Heating up oils, and mixing with an alkali like lye, causes the glycerin to split away mixed with water, from these fatty acids to create the glycerin. After the chemical process takes place there is no more lye, but an actual bar of glycerin rich soap. Glycerin is an emollient that attracts the moisture to your skin and keeps your skin soft. As a result of natural soaps containing all their original glycerin deposits, you'll experience a rich bubbly lather that is so soothing to your skin.
